George Paspalas, President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Paspalas joined Aurizon as President and Chief Executive Officer as of August 15, 2011. Mr. Paspalas has been involved in the mining industry for 26 years, including fourteen years in senior management positions, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer at Silver Standard Resources Inc. Before joining Silver Standard, Mr. Paspalas held senior management positions with Placer Dome Inc., including Executive Vice-President and Senior Vice President Projects - Technical Development and as President and Chief Executive Officer of Placer Dome Africa. During his career, Mr. Paspalas has been responsible for constructing and operating complex open pit and underground mines in South Africa, Tanzania, Australia, South America and Canada; evaluating and negotiating project acquisitions; communicating operational performance and development plans and progress to the investment community; mitigating mining project risk and improving safety and site environmental performance; developing strategic community partnerships; managing government affairs relating to permitting or operating activities; negotiating commercial concentrate contracts; and improving operational performance. Mr. Paspalas earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) degree with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 1984.

Ian S. Walton, Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Walton is a Chartered Accountant and has been involved with public companies in the mining industry for more than 25 years. Mr. Walton is fully experienced with all aspects of mining finance, taxation and treasury functions. Mr. Walton has been involved with Aurizon since its inception in 1988.

Julie A. Stokke Kemp, Corporate Secretary

Ms. Kemp is a member of the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries and has been involved in the mining industry since 1983, during which time she has been the Corporate Secretary of a number of public companies. Ms. Kemp has been involved with Aurizon since its inception and is responsible for organizing Aurizon's legal and regulatory compliance activities.

Chris McLean, Corporate Controller

Mr. McLean joined Aurizon as Corporate Controller in September 2006. He is a Certified Management Accountant with extensive accounting experience in the retail, distribution, and service industries, and is fluent in both English and French. Mr. McLean’s responsibilities include preparing financial reporting, ensuring SOX compliance, and monitoring and enhancing internal controls over financial reporting. He also provides guidance to the Quebec operations on financial and accounting matters.

Richard Pozzebon, Director, Finance

Mr. Pozzebon joined Aurizon as Director, Finance in October 2012 and brings a depth of experience in the areas of financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, corporate transactions and due diligence. He has held several senior finance positions, including VP Finance and Controller of Walter Energy, Inc.’s Canadian and European Operations and Director in KPMG’s Transaction Services practice based in California. Mr. Pozzebon is a CFA Charterholder, a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Western Ontario and a Diploma in Accounting from the University of British Columbia. He is involved in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of Family Services of Greater Vancouver.

Jennifer North, Manager, Investor Relations

Ms. North joined Aurizon in 1996 and is currently the Manager of Investor Relations and has been in that position since December 2010. Previously her position was that of Executive Assistant where in addition to her core responsibilities was responsible for developing Aurizon’s Corporate brand and marketing campaigns. Ms. North is currently responsible for the management of corporate communications and oversees corporate marketing and advertising programs, market research, investor events, conferences and site visits. She is presently completing her Bachelor of Commerce, General Management. She is a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute. Ms. North completed the Canadian Securities Course in 2009.

Marc Turcotte, Director, Corporate Development

Mr. Turcotte joined Aurizon in December of 2009 and has been involved in the natural resource industry for the last 10 years. Mr. Turcotte has experience in asset optimization and valuations, integrating acquired assets, commodity trading and setting up long term sales contracts. He received a Bachelor of Science in Resource Economics (Honors) from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. His current responsibilities include overseeing all project evaluations, strategic and financial analysis.

Operations – Val d’Or

Martin Bergeron, Vice-President, Operations

Mr. Bergeron is a mining engineer who has been in the mining industry for more than 29 years, most recently as General Manager, Western Canada, NWT and Nunavut for Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited. Prior to that, he was the Mine Manager at Iamgold's Rosebel Gold Mine in Suriname.

Mr. Bergeron, who received his mining engineering degree from Laval University, Quebec, will be based in Val d'Or, Quebec and will oversee all of the Company's activities in Quebec, including the Casa Berardi Gold Mine and Joanna Gold Project.

Ghislain Fournier, General Manager, Technical Services

Ghislain is a geological engineer who has 30 years experience in mine geology, project evaluation and mineral exploration. He formerly worked for Soquem, Falconbridge and Campbell resources, and joined Aurizon in 1997. Ghislain was involved in the initial  pre-acquisition evaluation of Casa Berardi in 1998, and was involved in the formulation of the initial exploration program, which resulted in the discovery of the gold zones that Aurizon is currently mining. Ghislain was also instrumental in the evaluation and acquisition of  Joanna, and the identification of the open pit potential of that project, which is still in exploration stage in order to improve the economics of the feasibility recently released.

Christian Bourcier, General Manager, Casa Berardi

Mr. Bourcier was appointed to the position of General Manager, Casa Berardi Mine effective November 1, 2011 from his position of Mine Manager held since 2009. He was previously both underground superintendant and engineering superintendant at Casa Berardi since joining Aurizon in 2007. Mr. Bourcier graduated from l’Université Polytechnique de Montréal and is a mining engineer with 18 years experience, who formerly worked with Iamgold in the areas of project evaluation and operational efficiency and optimization, as well as several other operating mines.

Martin Demers, General Manager of Exploration

Mr. Demers has a degree in Geology from the Université of Québec at Montréal (UQAM) which he received in 1996 followed by a Master’s scholarship and research concentrated on gold deposit geology. Mr. Demers joined Aurizon in 1997, and has participated in all of Aurizon’s exploration activities since that time. He directed the exploration efforts at Casa Berardi between 2003 and 2006 and at Joanna from the acquisition from the initial claim position in 2006. He has held positions from exploration geologist to exploration manager and most currently General Manager of Exploration.

Gilles Brousseau, General Manager, Corporate Development

Mr. Brousseau has more than 40 years of mining experience working with companies such as Barrick Gold Corp. and Teck Cominco Ltd. He has been involved in a number of mine startup situations including the startup of Bousquet 1 and Bousquet 2, in the Abitibi Belt, and as manager of El Indio in Chile.

Jean-Pierre Landry , General Manager, Project & Construction

Jean-Pierre Landry graduated as a Civil Engineer from McGill College in 1983 and subsequently received his Masters in 1985. Mr. Landry has a diverse background in project management and 20 years of experience in the construction industry. His most recent experience involves managing a gold mine project in the James Bay territory of Quebec, where he was involved with remote site logistics and played a key role in bringing the project to feasibility study stage completion and in the negotiation with the First Nations. In 2011, Mr. Landry joined Aurizon Mines as the General Manager of projects and construction and is responsible for the Joanna feasibility report. Before joining Aurizon, he was a manager at several noteworthy mining companies, including Goldcorp, and Noranda Mines, for which he has been in charge of projects in Quebec and Ontario. Mr. Landry is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario

Danielle Morin, Manager, Administration

Ms. Morin holds a bachelor degree in business administration. Prior to joining the team at Aurizon Mines in 2001, she worked at Cambior and has 18 years experience in the mining industry. As Manager of administration at Aurizon, she oversees a team of six people whose primary responsibilities are the financial statements, accounts payable and payroll for all of our activities in Quebec.
